Glock to make DTM comeback in 2025 with McLaren

Timo Glock will make his return to the DTM in 2025 after a three-year absence, having signed a deal with Dorr Motorsport for the upcoming season. The five-time race winner will race a McLaren 720S GT3 EVO for the team, replacing Clemens Schmid in their two-car line-up.

This marks Glock’s first full-time return to the series since a wildcard appearance with Ceccato Motorsport in 2022, where he drove a BMW M4 GT3. Prior to that, Glock had an illustrious DTM career with BMW, joining the manufacturer for its second season in 2013 and staying throughout the Class One era. During his time with BMW, Glock became one of the most popular and consistent drivers in the series, claiming 15 podiums, six pole positions, and five race victories.

However, his time with the DTM came to a difficult end in 2021, as he struggled with the aging BMW M6 during the series’ switch to GT3 regulations. As a result, he was left without a drive in the championship.

After a stint in the Italian GT championship with BMW in 2022, Glock was dropped by the brand at the end of the season, and he had not secured a new manufacturer deal until now. Despite these setbacks, Glock’s passion for the DTM remained strong.

Speaking about his return, the 42-year-old said, “The contact and my passion for the DTM have never completely broken off. I think the project is very good and exciting. Dorr Motorsport wants to take the next step with me – I am proud of that.”

Glock’s comeback to the DTM with Dorr Motorsport offers a fresh challenge, and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the new era of racing with McLaren machinery in the competitive GT3 landscape.

“With my experience, I am confident that I can contribute to the team’s success. I aim to play a key role in the team’s development. Our goal is to consistently finish in the top 10 by the second year, with the possibility of reaching podium positions.

“I truly feel ready, fully motivated, and excited to race again. I’m really looking forward to the challenge and working with Rainer Dorr and the entire team. There’s no question about whether I still have the ability—I am certain of that.”

Dorr Group operates McLaren’s largest dealer network in Europe, and its racing division expanded into the DTM in 2024, running two 720S GT3 cars for Schmid and Ben Dorr.

Ben Dorr will continue with his family-run team in the DTM in 2025, teaming up with the incoming Timo Glock.

“We are extremely proud to have Timo Glock join our team,” said team owner Rainer Dorr. “Having a driver with such experience and career achievements is a huge asset to us as a team and to the DTM.”

Before joining the DTM with BMW over a decade ago, Glock spent five seasons racing in Formula 1 between 2008-12, with his standout achievement being three podium finishes with Toyota.
