Maksymilian Angelard Makes His Debut in the Prototype Cup Germany

BWT Mücke Motorsport has announced that Maksymilian Angelard, a 17-year-old Polish driver, will be joining the team for the 2025 season in the Prototype Cup Germany. This announcement comes shortly after the conclusion of the 2024 season, confirming the growing interest in the series among drivers.

Angelard, who recently completed a year in the GT4 category, is now making the move to the LMP3-based Prototype Cup Germany. His decision comes after a longstanding desire to race in closed-cockpit cars, a preference that was evident even during his karting days, which is relatively unusual for karting drivers who often gravitate toward open-wheel vehicles. Despite briefly testing a Formula 4 car, Angelard realized that his true passion lay with the closed-cockpit race cars. “I’ve always wanted to go in the direction of LMP,” he shared. “Even as a kart driver, I was more interested in closed vehicles than Formula cars, which is not typical for kart drivers.”

From GT4 to LMP3: A Smooth Transition

Although Angelard had dreams of entering the LMP scene, he initially decided to start his career in 2024 by joining the GT4 series. “GT4 is a relatively lower racing category, which is just right for making the transition from karting to car racing. I think it was the right first step for me,” he explained. However, given his long-standing interest in LMP racing, he didn’t want to stay in GT4 for too long. In 2024, he had his first test sessions in an LMP3 car, a 455-horsepower, 950-kilogram prototype. The transition from a GT4 car to an LMP3 car presented several challenges. “The biggest adjustment was that the LMP3 doesn’t have ABS like my GT4 car, so I had to be extra careful not to lock up the wheels. And then there’s the fact that the LMP3 generates a lot more downforce. It took some time to build trust in the car, but even though it was challenging at first, I had a lot of fun. It showed me that I am ready to make the leap into the Prototype Cup Germany,” Angelard said.

Joining BWT Mücke Motorsport

For his LMP3 debut, Angelard chose BWT Mücke Motorsport, a team renowned for its strong track record in developing young drivers across various racing series. “I did a test with a Duqueine LMP3 car from Mücke Motorsport and immediately felt at ease with the team both in terms of sportsmanship and personally. You know that they are a good team capable of fighting for top positions. I had contact with other teams in the Prototype Cup Germany, but I think Mücke is the right choice for me,” he explained.

Team principal Stefan Mücke shared his enthusiasm about Angelard joining the team: “We are excited to welcome Maksymilian as another young talent alongside Mattis Pluschkell and Riccardo Leone Cirelli. Maksymilian impressed us during the test with his meticulous preparation. We immediately sensed that he felt comfortable in the LMP prototype and is eager to develop further in this direction. We are confident in his potential. With him, we now have our third driver confirmed for the 2025 season in the Prototype Cup Germany, which clearly speaks to the positive trend of this emerging racing series.”

Looking Ahead to 2025

Angelard’s arrival in the Prototype Cup Germany is a significant step in his racing career, and joining a well-established team like BWT Mücke Motorsport will provide him with the support and resources needed to develop further. With a strong focus on developing young drivers and a proven track record, Mücke Motorsport is an ideal environment for the Polish driver to grow and challenge himself in the competitive world of LMP racing.

As the Prototype Cup Germany continues to gain popularity, the addition of promising young talents like Angelard highlights the growing recognition of the series as a stepping stone for aspiring professional drivers. With drivers such as Mattis Pluschkell, Riccardo Leone Cirelli, and now Maksymilian Angelard, the series is poised to continue its upward trajectory, attracting more young drivers eager to take on the challenges of prototype racing.

Angelard’s move to the Prototype Cup Germany also reflects the changing landscape of motorsport, where LMP racing has become a more accessible and exciting option for young talents, offering them a chance to compete in real race cars with solid financial backing. His decision to join the series is a testament to its appeal as a viable and attractive alternative to traditional single-seater racing.

For Maksymilian Angelard, the 2025 season promises to be an exciting and challenging next step in his motorsport journey, and with BWT Mücke Motorsport behind him, he’s well-positioned to make his mark in the Prototype Cup Germany.
